As part of our efforts to ensure the CHEERS project collaborates with a range of stakeholders and actors involved in the brewing and bio-based sectors, Earthwatch has design two studies to engage with these communities.
Online survey: Gathering Information
Firstly, we have a new online survey aimed at previous and existing projects and initiatives involving bio-based solutions (both research and industry-led). The aim of the survey is to gather information on previous and existing projects’ best-practice and challenges when planning, developing, tracking, and implementing bio-based audience engagement activities. The results forthcoming will be analysed and aggregated into guidance to inform CHEERS bio-based engagement activities, to ensure all previous lessons are learnt from giving the greatest starting position to ensure success.

Interested on helping?
The second study has been developed on the Zooniverse platform, and is aimed at anyone interested in helping! It is Called Who’s Responsibility is it Anyway? And can be found here:

The CHEERS project aims to find new uses for materials that are often wasted in the beer-making process. Instead of throwing these materials away, CHEERS will use them to create five valuable products – animal feed, cleaning products, cosmetics, pet food and energy drinks. This will help reduce the amount of resources used and the harm caused to the environment during beer production. The project will also explore how these changes impact the wider environment, including the health of plants and animals and how land is used for farming.
As part of our research, we would like to know what societal factors and business practices you think should be prioritised when creating a new service or product.
Through Who’s Responsibility is it Anyway?, you will be presented with two business practices or factors that can be considered when creating a new product or service – all we want you to do is chose which should be the biggest priority out of the two (see an example of two such practices below).

Each image (side-by-side) represents a business practice or factor that can have an effect on society. You have the 1st or left image on the left, and the 2nd or right image on the right. All you need to do, is pick the business practice or behaviour you think should be prioritised when launching a new product or service, out of the two displayed.
This is your personal opinion, so there is no right or wrong answer! Just try to be truthful based on your own thoughts and experience.
